Remembering Bartok
Or
Proposing a Hypothetical Correlation between Ear Size and Misfortunes in Canines.
Bartok, it seems, had the ears of a much larger dog.
He must have joined the wrong queue when they were giving them out.
Bartok also had the misfortunes of a much larger dog (or so he told me)
He reckoned that somewhere there must be larger dog with ears that were too small for him, but that had an easy life.
I was going to call him Zoltan, after the Hungarian composer Zoltan Kodaly, but a friend objected that would be ridiculous.
He is pictured here buffeted by the wind, ears at full sail.
