This is a 'Folk Sonata', by that I mean it is influenced by both classical and folk traditions. It was inspired by a walk up Beacon Hill in Leicestershire, however Beethoven’s dictum on the relationship between music and landscape applies, they are “more the expression of feeling than painting.”
