View from Kirklington Churchyard from where you can see harvested fields beyond the wall. It reminds me of the harvest tide hymn, "Come ye Thankful People Come,' which makes the slightly alarming connection between the yearly agricultural harvest and the harvest of souls at the end of time,
Verse three...
For the Lord our God shall come,
And shall take the harvest home;
From His field shall in that day
All offences purge away,
Giving angels charge at last
In the fire the tares to cast;
But the fruitful ears to store
In the garner evermore.
Thankfully the crosses in the foreground may also remind us that at Calvary God's merciful judgement was made known.
