Played by Lucy Alessio, recorded by Gavin Langley. Written by me.

A Moonwort is a small fern. I am sorry to say I once inadvertently sat on one up near Carperby. I only know this because after a while I heard the sound of a stifled lament. Once back on my feet I listened carefully to the Moonwort's sad song of woe and determined to memorise it as best I could then write it down when I got home. So here it is.

The Moonwort sang with a fairly flexible rhythm, but that may have been because I had sat on it.

A Rant is an energetic dance or its tune, it also means to make merry, or to frolic. After playing the celebrated Morpeth Rant I thought I ought to write one of my own. At the time I was a Rector in North Yorkshire, if I was actually given to ranting or not you will have to enquire of the good people of my former parishes.
